J1&2s : Update to pieces

Hi everyone. its uh. very late alr so i shall try to keep this short so i can go erm. slp x)

This post is about some updated fingerings / info / recordings and wht not for ur pieces.

The new piece for j2s is Bourree by Bach and j1s Gavotte also by Bach (: Not a coincidence. I'm hoping that we can play more Baroque pieces cos they're pretty simple in terms of expression and its charm usually lies in its sequences and all, notes basically. Plus baroque pieces usually don't require sustain - which can both be a blessing and a curse on the guitar.

Sorry if the post is abit. robotic. i'm kinda brain dead.

Anyway. the thing is that if we don't have to sustain, it saves us alot of trouble in terms of fingering and all, but it also means that when we play open strings or "ringing notes", extra effort has to be made to ensure that no unnecessary sustains are present. Shall elaborate more below.

J2s
Try not to have every1 learning guitar 1 ><

The recordings for the various parts are here.

Guitar 1

Guitar 2

Guitar 3

Guitar 4

Guitar 1. The fingering is kinda tricky so lets standardize the fingering (in order of notes and which fingers to use). comma refers to bar line

1 3, 4 3 1 1(slide) 2 4, 2 (2nd string) 4 (2nd) 1 2 4(slide) 2, 1 4 (2nd string) 2(2nd) 1(2nd) 2 4, 1 4 2 1 0

take note that the open e is played on the 2nd string. thanks ( to prevent ringing notes)

o and try to add vibratos for all the crotchet notes. uh a slowed down version of it can be dl-ed here.

Guitar 3s play your open B on the 3rd string to prevent ringing notes (i.e. 4 3 4 4 3 (2nd string) etc)

J1s
The recordings for the various parts are here.

Guitar 1

Guitar 2

Guitar 3

if you look further you'll realise that ultimately you'll have to learn all of the parts. cos they kinda switch at the back. Things to take note for the various parts.

Guitar 1 : nth much. just make it smooth and don't chop the melody up like ode to joy. yupp (:

Guitar 2 : Take care of ur rests. if theres a rest there, make sure there is no sound. like totally 0. take care of ur sparkies too ( ur MI will tell u more next training)

Guitar 3: eh. what can i say? practise more >< anyway, i dno for u guys but if you look at bar 7, the 4th note (i.e. the crotchet E with the fingering 2), it works better for me if i use finger 4 instead and slide to the next note it. yupp. sorry i know i kinda promised to record for you all but ended up recording every single part -.- lol okay jiayou anyway. have fun practising (:

and btw. you can hear the gavotte (solo version) here. try to burn the melody into ur brain or smthing. yupp.

k thats all for now. shall go slp. nights (:
